While planning their destination wedding in Charleston, SC, Kate and Edward dreamed of a lush garden wedding. While rain might have sent their ceremony plans inside the couple didn’t let it dampen their day. Instead Cayleigh of The Petal Report moved the couples ceremony indoors for a cozy (and dry!) alternative. The rain cleared just in time so the two could celebrate outside in the romantic gardens of The Governor Thomas Bennett House. Make sure to check out all of the gorgeous details below captured to perfection by Rachel Red Photography. How did you meet? From the Groom: We worked in the same building and Kate helped do software installations for a program I needed. She came by my desk and we spent a good 30 minutes chatting while the installation bar filled up. I walked her back to the elevator while she checked my butt out. What is your proposal story? Edward googled “romantic spots central park” and found a charming bridge a short walk from a fancy restaurant that would serve as cover for formal wear. One reservation at Tavern on the Green later and the plan was sprung with nary a hitch.Tell us a little a bit about your wedding: We held it at the Thomas Bennett House which we fell in love with because it’s the greatest place. Rain turned our chuppah into a kayak, but the beautiful inside of the house served as an elegant classic southern backdrop. What was the most important to the two of you while planning? That everybody who attended would have a fun and memorable time. Sometimes married couples describe their weddings as full of duties to fulfill, but we made sure that the formal stuff was brief but well done while the partying was long and spontaneous!Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Just do it and enjoy the process. The formalities can be enjoyable as long as you both agree on why you’re doing them. A great wedding planner helps!
