Who watched the Oscars last night? Watching the Oscars red carpet is always one of my favorite highlights of the awards ceremony. And after last nights fashion it only seemed fitting to feature this stylish engagement. Every Valentine’s Day I reach out to others to gain their advice on love, dating and relationships. This year I asked some of my Charleston Blog Society friends to describe their dream date night. Their answers were beyond sweet and proved that simple gestures go the furthest. If today’s post doesn’t leave you too blurry eyed check out the past two years posts here and here! “My dream date actually happened two years ago on Valentine’s Day! My husband, Casey, and I just purchased our first home together. We hadn’t moved in yet because we were in the process of renovating it. My husband took me by the house and surprised me with dinner in our kitchen – which was totally under construction! He had the food catered with a bottle of champagne and candles on the makeshift table. I’ll never forget that Valentine’s day and how special it was to have our first dinner in our new kitchen. Now that was a dream date!” Monica, Lavin Label

“My idea of a dream date is actually the type of date my husband and I love the most. We would start during the day with exploring shops and views of a new city… stopping in to grab a coffee or some sweet treats as we go. Later on, we’d have dinner at a delicious restaurant and find a place to sit and talk about life for hours—that’s when we have our best conversations about our dreams together!” Megan, Holy City Chic White Loft Studio via Style Me Pretty Karen Buckle Photography via White Magazine // Laura Gordon Photography via Style Me Pretty
“My dream date, living in a city that abounds with delicious food, is having dinner at my date’s favorite restaurant. I can learn a lot about their tastes and personality just from their pick! Then, a drink or two at one of the cozy bars downtown like The Belmont to end the night.” Annie, Annie ReevesMichelle March Photography via Shannon Kristen
“As much as I love a date night out in a gorgeous outfit with chic heels there is just something so special about a date night in. I feel the gesture of cooking for someone is the most thoughtful and caring thing you can do. The first Valentine’s my fiance and I had living together in the same city he surprised me by cooking for me. I walked in the door to our kitchen an absolute disaster. I do all the cooking in our house and this was the first time Taylor had cooked a meal from scratch for me so he was all over the place. But the meal was wonderful and the table was set beautifully with a stunning bouquet of flowers along with one of my favorite bottles of wine. It was just so thoughtful. The perfect date.” Tiffany, Skipping Breakfast at Tiffany’sHeather Waraska via Style Me Pretty
“My Valentine’s Day dream date would be a long weekend getaway with my handsome husband, to a romantic Inn in Napa Valley, where we would spend our afternoon wine tasting in the vineyards. We would end the evening with a delicious dinner enjoyed by a warm and cozy fire.” Ryan, A Polished Palette Abby Jiu Photography via Style Me Pretty // Milton Photography via Style Me Pretty
“My Charleston dream date would begin at the Peninsula Grill for a delicious seafood dinner and a slice of their famous 12-layer Ultimate Coconut Cake. Afterwards, we’d stroll around the city market, Rainbow Row, and waterfront, finishing the night with a Bartender’s Choice at the Gin Joint.” Meg, My Borrowed Heaven KT Merry via Southern Weddings
“A dream date to me is a simple one where we’d spend all day at the beach swimming, taking walks, and enjoying each other free of distraction (and cell phones!). At night, we’d treat ourselves to cocktails overlooking the Ravenel Bridge and enjoying a delicious meal at one of Charleston’s finest restaurants. And of course wrap the night up with a sweet kiss!” Kelly, Paper Meets Pearl
