Dating since college, Columbia, South Carolina, couple Hannah and Perrin are set to tie the knot this winter. But these two choose to capture their engagement session over the summer while the flowers were still in bloom. The bride chose two summery frocks that perfectly complimented their relaxed engagement session. Read on below to learn more about this couples sweet love story! How Did You Meet? Perrin and I met through mutual friends when I was just about to graduate college. We hit it off right away and our love lasted the distance when I moved home two short weeks after we started dating. Thankfully, I got my first nursing job back in Columbia a few months later and the rest is history! What Is Your Proposal Story? Perrin proposed on December 22nd in front of the South Carolina State House. I accidentally put a wrench in his plans when I switched my work schedule around! He had the whole thing planned for months and had expected for me to have the day off. He was calm, cool, and collected and pushed back the engagement time to accommodate for the change. He told me we were going to eat dinner at one of my favorite restaurants that night so I was definitely excited! When we were walking to the restaurant, he walked me around the big, South Carolina State Christmas Tree and got down on one knee to propose! He even hired a photographer who captured the moment! I was so happy – and the celebrations continued afterwards at his parent’s house where he had gathered our friends and family to help us celebrate.
Happy Friday friends! Boy am I happy for this week to end. There’s nothing like going on vacation and then coming home to a jam-packed schedule to tire you out. Has anyone seen Crazy Rich Asians? I read the book and I’m thinking of heading to the movie this weekend. I don’t remember the last time I actually saw a movie in the theater!

With a color palette of blush and champagne this is one pretty Magnolia Plantation wedding you won’t want to miss! Charleston couple Anna and Nick planned a gorgeous wedding under the sweeping Oaks at Magnolia Plantation. Cruz Coordination and Pretty Petals transformed the historic space with hanging chandeliers dripping with candles and greenery, while homemade pralines greeted guests at each place setting. Stephen Atohi captured this Magnolia Plantation wedding to perfection including a midnight surprise treat of popsicles for the guests! How did you two meet? I met Nick through mutual friends in passing a few times. We didn’t really get to know each other until about a year later. I had just purchased a house, and when I moved in, I realized it was directly across the street from Nick. Once we noticed we were neighbors, we started walking our dogs together and really hit it off. What unique elements or DIY details did you include? There were several. I designed and screen printed all our invitations. Nick built the board that held the escort key tags. I lettered all the escort cards, that we then tied to the keys. On all the guest plates, there were pralines. My mom and my aunt made and wrapped all of them (they were delicious!).

Captured by The Ganey’s this sweet Koreshan State Park portrait session is everything engagement dreams are made of! With the tropical scene of Koreshan State Park as their backdrop, gorgeous golden light, and the brides stylish outfit choices – this is one engagement you’ll want to take notes on! How Did You Two Meet? Trevor and I met our junior year of college at the University of Tennessee – go Vols! We had seen each other around, but we were both in relationships up until that point. After some liquid courage, I (yes, me!) approached him and the rest is history! What Is Your Proposal Story? Trevor proposed at the Cheekwood Botanical Garden in our hometown of Nashville, TN. It was decorated for Christmas, with each section of the garden having a different theme. At one point on the path, there was a gazebo that was wrapped completely in twinkle lights and that’s where he popped the question! I think I blacked out because I remember him talking, but I can’t tell you a word he said.
Afterwards he surprised me with a huge party with all of our family and friends. All of my high school and college friends came in town for the party which made the night even more special. I was the biggest brat that night because it was 30 degrees and I didn’t want to go out because it was so cold, but thankfully I gave in!
Happy Friday! I’m getting back into the swing of things after taking 10 days off for a roadtrip out west. I visited Seattle, Missoula and Bozeman Montana, and Jackson Hole Wyoming. Spending most of my time exploring Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park. It was an amazing trip and one that will be hard to beat. I took lots of photos of the incredible landscape so look for a travel post soon! Dress (on sale for under $100) | Jacket | Hat | Shoes

Lindsay and Matt’s wedding took place on St. Patrick’s Day and the two had the luck of the Irish on their side. The couple brought their vision of a garden wedding at Magnolia Plantation to life through a blush and navy color palette. They incorporated the holiday with elegant touches woven through the details including gold foil shamrock table numbers and an Irish handfasting ceremony during their vows. Catherine Ann Photography captured the couples wedding day to perfection including some portraits with their sweet puppy Peaches! And if you’re looking for more St. Patrick’s Day wedding inspiration you’ll love these Cliffs of Moher bridal portraits – here. How Did You Meet? Matt’s sister, Amy, was my resident-mate at the University of Tennessee. We met at her birthday party. His sister likes to tell people that we were the first ones to arrive, the last ones to leave, and we didn’t talk to anyone else the entire night! What Is Your Proposal Story? Matt proposed on Christmas Eve. We cooked Christmas Eve dinner together, and we really enjoyed making a great meal. We decided to open our Christmas presents to each other that night because I had to work on Christmas Day. I gave Matt a bunch of clothes for Christmas, and I wrapped each item individually as a prank. He probably had 10 packages to open, and I have never seen someone open presents so quickly! When we were finally done opening gifts, he told me there was one more gift that he needed to give me. He pulled out a small, wrapped box, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him.Tell us a little a bit about your wedding: We are both from the south, and we relocated to North Carolina a few years ago. Our families and friends live in many different states, and we knew we wanted to have the wedding somewhere that everyone would enjoy visiting and that most people could drive instead of fly. We both visited Charleston growing up, and we both love the charm and character that Charleston offers. Plus, I had always envisioned having my wedding surrounded by my favorite tree, Live Oaks.
We visited several wedding venues around Charleston, and we chose Magnolia Plantation because it was absolutely the most beautiful venue. We fell in love with the Long White Bridge Lawn, and we knew it would be the perfect spot for the ceremony. We also loved that peacocks might make an appearance during the ceremony or reception! What were your favorite parts of the day? We both agree that our absolute favorite moment was looking out at all of our friends and family during the wedding ceremony. It was the first time that all of the people who are the most special to us were in the same place. That will probably never happen again, and we will always treasure knowing that so many people came from so far to celebrate with us!
My most memorable moment was seeing Matt for the first time that day. We did a first look prior to the ceremony, and it was so wonderful to get to spend time with him prior to the ceremony. I was feeling nervous for most of the wedding day morning, and Matt is very laid-back. We talked about how our days were going, and he immediately put me at ease.
My favorite detail was courtesy of my sweet bridesmaids. While we were getting our hair and makeup done, it started raining. The rain was stressing me out, and they wanted to take my mind off the rain. My bridesmaids went over to the Charleston City Market and found St. Patrick’s Day themed temporary tattoos. We each picked out our favorite and put them on our ankles; it was a fun distraction! And the rain stopped by the time we arrived at the venue!
We absolutely adore our Dachshund-Chihuahua mix (Chiweenie), Peaches. It was really important to us to have her as a part of our ceremony. She’s too little to make the walk down the aisle by herself, so she was carried by the Bridesman, Casey Neary. Peaches was the star of the ceremony; I think she got more crowd “oohs and aahs” than we did! At the end of the ceremony when we walked back up the aisle, she started barking because she didn’t want to be left behind. The entire crowd laughed and it was so sweet!Tell us about any DIY, handmade, or personal details: We got married on St. Patrick’s Day, and we wanted to incorporate some small touches to honor the day. We did a handfasting ceremony as a part of our vows. Handfasting is an ancient Irish wedding tradition that has come to be interpreted literally, as the symbolic act of “tying the knot.” We also made gold foiled shamrocks for our table numbers. My bouquet had a beautiful vintage gold and sapphire shamrock brooch; this was my “something old.”
I am a big Taylor Swift fan, and one of my favorite songs is “Love Story”. I really wanted to incorporate that song into the wedding ceremony. We had a violin and cello duo (Palmetto Strings) for our ceremony music. For my walk down the aisle they played the intro to Wedding March and then switched to the instrumental version of “Love Story.” It was perfect!
It was really important to us to have the people closest to us be a part of our wedding. One of my best friends is a guy. While it was a little untraditional, it was great to have Casey stand up for me as a part of the bridal party (as a “bridesman”). Instead of a bouquet, he carried Peaches (our dog) down the aisle!

Floral chandeliers and a blush color palette are wedding perfection in this vibrant Florida wedding. Bride Jaclynn sought the creativity of NK Productions Wedding Planning and MMD Events to create a tented reception to wow guests and they did just that. With florals wrapped around tent poles, gorgeous peony arrangements adorning tables, and a towering greenery escort cart display, the designers transformed the Gasparilla Inn into a garden oasis. With Matt Rice Photography capturing this couples day, every detail and emotion was documented to perfection. How did you meet? We have mutual friends from high school but met at one of our high schools annual thanksgiving break reunions at Jimmy’s Fish House on Clearwater Beach. What is your proposal story? He proposed after 10 years of dating while we were vacationing in Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina. We went fishing and he asked me to reel in the fishing rod and on the other end of the rod was a ring attached to the hook. He also was filming the entire thing on his drone so we have a video!Tell us a little bit about your wedding: We wanted an elegant, fun party for everyone to enjoy! We saved our “wow” factor for our tented reception which included lots of vibrant florals, an awesome band, and great food, drinks, and dancing!

I’ve had a really busy summer this year and while I love being busy, working 13 hour days was starting to take it’s toll on my morale. Let’s be honest, I was in serious need of a girls trip! But with how busy my schedule has been I just didn’t have the time or energy to sit down and search websites for discounted fares. Luckily, Expedia has a new way to save on hotels with Add-On Advantage! Hundreds of hotel discounts are unlocked after you book a flight, car or package with Expedia. Once I learned how easy it is to book with Expedia, I was convinced and my girls weekend in Palm Beach was booked with just a few clicks! I am a worry-wart when it comes to travel and booking with Expedia offers three of my favorite things – ease, flexibility, and savings! There’s nothing worse than worrying about booking everything before a trip and spending hours scouring sites looking for the best discount. Luckily, with Expedia Add-On Advantage you can unlock discounts and take the time you need to research the perfect hotel. I started my search on Expedia by browsing different flight options from Charleston. I ended up picking Palm Beach as it’s a short flight and since July is considered their slow season flights were a great price. The minute my flight was confirmed several hotel options with my special “member price” were unlocked. Just look for the yellow tag symbol next to hotels to see your special discounted price thanks to Add-On Advantage. I had heard so many wonderful things about the Colony Hotel (just look at that pink exterior!) and with 25% off their nightly rate I couldn’t refuse!Booking with Expedia’s new Add-On Advantage was a breeze! Rather than spending hours finding the perfect hotel rate I instead was able to book and start looking forward to my trip. There’s no reason you should be stressed about planning a vacation so save yourself time and book the Expedia way! Check back soon for my full travel guide to a girls weekend in Palm Beach, Florida!

The Swoon Event sets itself apart from standard bridal shows as it aims to provide the most cutting edge and unique wedding inspiration to couples. For a couple that spent most of their relationship flying to see each other a travel themed wedding only seemed appropriate. Ashley and Brandyn chose Key West for their destination wedding and it provided the perfect tropical atmosphere for their laid back affair. The bride decorated with vintage airplanes while mini flight cocktail kits were gifted as wedding favors. Rustic White Photography captured every detail of this couples travel themed wedding day to perfection but don’t take it from me, see for yourself below! How did you meet? Though we met many, many years ago, it wasn’t until I moved across the country that we reconnected. I was living in Los Angeles while Brandyn was still in Atlanta, and Brandyn got stuck at LAX one afternoon. A mutual friend suggested that he might call me to grab a beer and pass the time (we now suspect this friend knew what he was doing all along.) We ended up at a good dive bar with a great jukebox and it proved to be the perfect formula for us. Brandyn suggested we might meet up again, and I thought it was a long shot, as we were both busy professionals with very different lives living on different coasts. After many failed attempts at setting a date to get together, he asked what I was doing the following weekend, since his plans had fallen through. I was going to visit my sister in Hawaii, and told him he was welcome to meet us there (trying to call his bluff.) He proved me wrong when he slid into the seat next to me on the flight from LAX – HNL!What is your proposal story? My father, who passed 10 years ago, was a pilot. His first job was here in Atlanta flying out of the Peachtree-Dekalb airport. Brandyn arranged to take an open-air sunset bi-plane out of the same airport, and we sat side by side (with pilot Odie behind us) on a beautiful evening. Through the old, temperamental headset, he popped the question. I had to ask him to repeat it a few times before he finally got out the ring and pointed and said “this!” Odie then decided it was time for some acrobatics. I get insane motion sickness, so that was not my favorite part of the outing, but smiled all the way back to the airport nonetheless.Tell us a little a bit about your wedding: We had been to Key West on a trip very early on in our relationship, and it was there Brandyn told me that he was going to marry me one day. I told him he was crazy. But he proceeded to point out all the places we could host wedding events, and swore we would get the same band we saw one night at the Green Parrot. The morning after the engagement, he asked if we could nail down a date and a venue (he is a PLANNER.) Through a champagne headache, I offered that he had already planned the whole thing, so why re-invent the wheel? Key West it was. Summer was too hot, fall is for football, and winter for holidays, so we picked April 21. As a designer/art director who worked in events for many years, I knew there was A LOT I could overthink, so I decided to go the complete opposite direction and aim for simple instead of perfect. I have designed about a hundred wedding invitations, but didn’t want to put that kind of pressure on myself, so I didn’t even design my own. We wanted the wedding to be as laid-back as possible, and the Audubon House was so beautiful it needed no decor, while Grunts had the perfect dive-bar feel that we are most comfortable in. We ended up booking the band we saw on our trip, convincing the food truck behind the bar (Garbo’s Grill) to stay open for the reception, and everything was perfect.Did you have any DIY, handmade, or personal details: As mentioned, my father was a pilot (along with both of my grandfathers as well as Brandyn’s grandfather), so I collected all the models of the planes they flew to use as centerpieces for the tables at the ceremony & cocktail hour. My friends and I sprayed the planes all a brass color because it was difficult to find them all with the correct paint jobs. Instead of a guest book, we had everyone take a photo of themselves with an Instax camera, then hang them from a handmade wood and marble stand my good friend Leslie made. They are pretty enough to put on the shelf at home, which was the whole idea. We also got a bunch of percussion instruments for everyone to carry along for the parade, second-line style. It was hard to find these in bulk without being all sorts of wacky colors, so they also got a coat of the brass paint. I designed and printed the programs myself, and made the little baskets they were carried in.
