Today’s darling Cornflower blue wedding will steal your heart with its sentimental details and great style. Bride Katie is an interior designer and used her skills to transform their historic venue. The couple chose to wed at The Historic Post Office in Hampton, Virginia. The space holds special meaning for the couple as the bride’s grandfather worked at the post office before it became an event space! Audrey Rose Photography captured every detail of the day to perfection including the couples donut wall and fun post card seating chart! How Did You Meet? We met in college at Virginia Tech. I was Thomas’ TA (Teacher’s Assistant) for one of his classes. We didn’t start dating until a year later when one of my sorority sisters set Thomas up as my date for a date party with the theme of “Grab your Sister a Mister.” He has been my only date ever since! What Is Your Proposal Story? Thomas would always get very creative to ask me to said date parties by writing witty poems that usually came with some type of food or treat that I loved. So 5 years later when I woke up one Saturday morning to one of his witty poems, I thought he had planned another one of his great surprises. The first poem led to a string of other poems that put me on an all day scavenger hunt around the DC area. I was having so much fun and thought he had just planned a weekend getaway for us. It wasn’t until I spotted him on a bench in Annapolis, Maryland did I realize what was actually happening. I vaguely remember what nice things he said to me but I do know that between my “oh my gosh” and “are you serious,” I said yes!Tell Us A Little Bit About Your Wedding: Our venue choice was what spurred the entire vision for our wedding day. We decided to get married at the Historic Post Office in my hometown of Hampton, VA. It was an old building in town but it had just been renovated into a new wedding venue. But it is special for my family as it is where my grandfather first started his career as a postman. Also as an Interior Designer, I loved the architecture of the building and how it could be the perfect backdrop for our wedding.
