Planning a Destination Wedding in Asheville

If you’ve been following this blog for awhile you have probably caught on to the fact that I love the coast and anything water related. So when an opportunity came up to explore the mountain wedding scene of Asheville, North Carolina, I jumped at the chance to experience something different! In early December I was invited to visit The Grand Bohemian and the Omni Grove Park Inn with fellow wedding blogger Classic Bride and experience the Asheville wedding scene first hand. Asheville, NC is a quick 4 1/2 hour drive from Charleston. (Or 5 if you make a pit stop at the huge Anthropologie in Columbia!) Even though it is only a short distance away Asheville is a completely different town. Full of lush trees, rolling mountains and a hip brewery (and doughnut) scene.I began my visit to Asheville at The Grand Bohemian located in the Biltmore Village. Modeled after an old hunting lodge the hotel is full of dark wood, jewel tones and antlers. For weddings the hotel has a beautiful cream-colored ballroom dripping with large chandeliers that opens on to a draped courtyard, perfect for outdoor ceremonies in any weather! Decorated with a rustic hunting lodge meets modern-chic sensibility, the restaurant would be the perfect space for welcome receptions or rehearsal dinners. The décor would also appeal to grooms and their groomsmen, which is an added bonus! Upon first entering the The Omni Grove Park Inn you are greeted by 24-foot ceilings and two gigantic 14-foot fireplaces, which immediately make you feel cozy and welcome. The inn makes you feel so calm, and during your wedding weekend that is exactly how you will want to feel! Destination_Wedding_Asheville_NC_011Destination_Wedding_Asheville_NC_014The Omni Grove Park Inn offers three main venues for weddings, the Skyline Room, the Country Club, and the Vanderbilt Terrace. As for your ceremony there is no better view in Asheville than the Mountain View Terrance, overlooking the romantic Blue Ridge Mountains. With a full dedicated wedding staff and onsite florist and planner the inn offers everything needed to have a flawless wedding day. This duffle is the perfect size to tote your things around for a weekend getaway and easily monogrammed with your new (or future) initials. Sarah and I also packed simple jewelry that matched everything we planned to wear over the trip from The Ropes Maine and Margaret Elizabeth. You can read more about what I packed here. Also, don’t forget to enter our giveaway with Margaret Elizabeth for your chance to win a set of bangles of your own!  But no post about The Omni Grove Park Inn would be complete without mentioning the spa. Condé Nast Traveler recently named The Omni Grove Park spa one of the Top Resort Spas in North America. With two therapeutic waterfall pools and a lap pool with underwater music, the inn’s spa was created with pure relaxation in mind. The best part about the spa is it is open from 8am until 9pm and you can leave and return as you wish. Nothing sounds more perfect than a morning spa appointment with your bridesmaids and returning after your rehearsal dinner that night to relax before your wedding day!Destination_Wedding_Asheville_NC_018Destination_Wedding_Asheville_NC_019 I highly suggest visiting The Omni Grove Park Inn in December so you have the chance to experience the hotels stunning holiday décor and the National Gingerbread Competition, which was a highlight for me!Destination_Wedding_Asheville_NC_020 Destination_Wedding_Asheville_NC_021 Destination_Wedding_Asheville_NC_022 Destination_Wedding_Asheville_NC_023
