What is your proposal story? John pulled off the most wonderful surprise proposal ever! I was going to brunch for a friend’s birthday and after brunch my friends suggested going to the Georgetown waterfront because it was such a beautiful spring day. As we were walking down to the waterfront, I saw my grandparents standing at the bottom of the stairs each holding a red rose! I was completely stunned and then realized that every member of my family and John’s family were there each holding a red rose! It was incredibly special because I was able to have a special moment with each member of my family and John’s family- not to mention that his dad and brother both flew in from the West Coast and his mom came all the way from Abu Dhabi! After I hugged each person, John was waiting by the edge of the waterfront with the last red rose to complete my bouquet and he asked me to be his wife! It was truly one of the happiest moments of my life!
Tell us a little a bit about your wedding: I grew up in Williamsburg, VA and had always envisioned getting married by the water, so Kingsmill was a perfect choice for us!
My vision for the wedding was clean, classic elegance and romance. Because we were married by the water, I drew inspiration from nature with my color palette and sticking to white, cream, gold and navy with hints of blush and tons of greenery! I wanted our wedding day decor to feel as timeless as my love for John.
What were your favorite parts of the day? My favorite parts of the day were all of the special moments I was able to share with John and my family. My mom putting me into my wedding dress was a moment I had imagined all my life and I was even more special than I could have imagined.
My first look with John was amazing and really gave us a few moments to cherish how special the day was. I also loved the first look with my dad. Being his only daughter and having such a close relationship, this moment was so important to me. As soon as I saw my dad, he told me how much he loved me and how proud he was of the woman I’ve become ( cue instant tears!). He then gave me the most loving hug and told me that he always thought my mom was the most beautiful bride he ever saw, until now.
