I recently had the pleasure of spending a relaxing weekend at the AAA Four-Diamond Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island and I am so excited to share my experience with you today. Hilton Head is about a two hour drive from Charleston, the perfect distance for a weekend escape. I spent many weekends in Hilton Head photographing weddings during my years as a wedding photographer, but had never experienced it as a vacationer. The Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island is the ideal location for Charleston couples looking to plan a mini honeymoon or couples looking for a destination beach wedding. Read on below for my experience visiting the Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island and for details about their wedding packages.Hilton Head Island is the ultimate destination for couples looking to plan a Southern beach wedding. When you think of the beach it brings up feelings of relaxation and calm and the events team at the Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island wants you to feel just that. The lushly landscaped resort is located beachfront with miles of breathtaking white sand beach only steps away from your hotel room. The resort features 340 guest rooms and suites each with their own private balconies. The resort also offers hospitality suites which are perfect for bridal parties needing a space for group hair and makeup. The Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island offers ample choices of ceremony and reception venues. Choose to get married with your toes in the sand on the beach or on their landscaped mid-island lawn surrounded by Live Oak trees. The Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island includes an Oceanfront Beach Pavilion, a traditional ballroom space, as well as the Oceanfront Shipyard Beach Club. Whatever the size and style of your wedding this resort has a venue to fit your needs. When planning a destination wedding, simplicity and ease are key. Working with the Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island events team means you can book your ceremony, reception venue, and guest accommodations in one.The Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island offers five on site restaurants and bars. During my visit I was lucky enough to experience the famous Friday night seafood buffet at Heyward’s Restaurant. When I travel I often only dine at the hotel for breakfast as I rarely stay somewhere that offers so many options. Believe me when I say it would be a shame to stay at the Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island and not experience their restaurants. The seafood buffet at Heyward’s Restaurant was a highlight of my weekend. It was the most fabulous array of seafood I have ever experienced. From oysters on the half shell to lobster pasta and curried salmon, I was beyond impressed. If Heyward’s Restaurant is any indication of the food this resort prepares then your wedding guests are in for a treat!Whether you want to release pre-wedding jitters or enjoy a morning of pampering with your bridesmaids the on-site Arum Spa is a must. I was treated to a facial during my visit and really enjoyed my time in the spa conveniently located inside the Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island. I can’t tell you how nice it was to simply ride the elevator down from my room to the spa. When you’re on vacation convenience is key and everything at this resort is designed for ease and relaxation. I have super sensitive skin and was nervous for my first experience with a facial. The products that Arum Spa uses are so gentle that I left feeling fresh and glowing. If you’re dreaming of the perfect destination beach wedding then look no further than the Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island. Their pristine white sand beach, friendly hospitality and cozy guest rooms will be waiting.
